JSC "Baltic Sea Port" was established in 1994 on the basis of what had been a state-owned construction company. Initially it leased out warehouse and office facilities.
In 1998, the company began to offer stevedoring services in relation to Pier RD-3, which lies adjacent to the company's territory.
In 1999, after a process of privatization, JSC "Baltic Sea Port" took over 14 hectares of privately owned port territory.
In 2000, the company installed high-capacity timber drying equipment, as well as a modern machine, which tests the strength of wood. This meant the establishment of a timber processing center which substantially expands the range of services which the company offers to its clients, especially by adding value to cargoes of timber.
In 2002, the range of timber processing services was expanded in a way, which once again added value - the company installed equipment for high-pressure impregnation of wood.
In 2004, JSC "Baltic Sea Port" bought 63% of the shares in the JSC "Lindeks", thus taking over a controlling share of one of the largest timber product export companies in Latvia. Among the subsidiaries of JSC "Lindeks" is a stevedoring company, "Krievu Salas Termināls", so now we can offer cargo handling at three different piers.
In 2005, the stock company "Baltic Sea Port" received a certificate which confirmed that its operations are in line with the international ISPS security code.
In 2005, the range of services offered by the timber materials processing centre was expanded to add another value added service smoothing the wood with a plane.
Early in 2006, the stock company "Baltic Sea Port" obtained the ISO 9001 quality management certificate.
